Greetings to everyone, and a very warm welcome to all of the new residents who have moved into Izinga Estate since our last publication.

Izinga Estate is a well-managed high-end residential estate designed for discerning purchasers looking for the sought after coastal lifestyle that is offered by the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The Estate offers approximately 3400 homes across 176 hectares. Izinga Estate will have 6 phases (Phase 1A, Phase 2A, Phase 2B, Phase 2C&F, Phase 2D) and Izinga Park upon completion. Izinga Estate currently has 4 phases, which are all members of the umbrella management association(Izinga Estate Management Association). Izinga Estate offers a rare and unique opportunity to live in a vibrant, diverse community, in an attractive and sustainable residential suburb. Each home maintains a high level of sophistication and charm that epitomises the lifestyle of all living in Izinga Estate. The walking trails meandering the rehabilitated green open spaces provide the ideal place for logging, power walking and viewing of birds. The natural amphitheatre offers a beautiful place where residents have the opportunity to gather for meetings, fun days and outdoor picnics.

We take great pleasure in announcing that the developer Tongaat Hulett Property, is in the process of lodging an application to obtain development rights for Izinga 2A Extension. The process will involve Subdivision, consolidation and rezoning. The much needed community centre site forms part of the application. The community centre will be developed and funded by Izinga Estate Management Association(IzEMA). It is envisaged that the proposed community centre will have offices for IzEMA, meeting rooms, recreational facilities and other support facilities that will be available for use by Izinga Estate residents. The working group, which is made up of residents from each phase, is working hand in hand with an architect in producing a draft concept for the clubhouse. This collaborative effort ensures that the residents’ interest is taken into consideration at early stages of the design development. IzEMA will share the concept with the residents when it is finalised. I would like to take this opportunity to announce that IzEMA has taken a strategic approach to review the current water usage in common areas, seeing as the water bill has become very high over the past couple of months. The exercise to install water meters in strategic areas is currently underway. This will enable IzEMA to measure water usage and charge the individual phases accordingly. I’m pleased to inform residents that the management team will be investigating alternative water sources that can potentially be used to irrigate common areas rather than using municipal water. The management team will explore stormwater harvesting, borehole and river abstraction, as possible water sources for irrigating common areas. It is expected that IzEMA will require authorisation from the Department of Water and Sanitation before a preferred solution is implemented in our Estate.

Last but not least, I would like to inform the residents that as of the 31st of March 2019, Tongaat Hulett Property will be moving offices from La Lucia Ridge to their head office at Amanzimnyama Hill, Tongaat. I wish you all a wonderful 2019 filled with great opportunities and successes.
