The assessment was based on the homes and facilities featured in the retirement village.
The village, created by Collins Residential, which claims to be the largest private residential developer in the country, is in the Kindlewood Estate. Residents benefit from having their own exclusive facilities within the retirement village and those in the larger estate.
The retirement estate’s care centre is tipped to be the biggest facility of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal, at just under 6000m² in size with 112 beds.
"TotalCare is a trusted senior care service provider, with years of experience and a successful track record in South African estates. This will be TotalCare’s introduction to KwaZulu-Natal, and we are thrilled to have played a part in bringing their expertise to this region," said David Cameron, developer representative of Mount Edgecombe Retirement Village.
The care centre is being built within the first phase of construction as access to health care is an important factor for those who retire. The design of the village also took into account the residents’ needs.
"Collins Residential put in a great deal of research to ensure that those who lived here would be provided with what they needed. This includes single-level, stepless living, the clever use of living space and an ability to retrofit homes to suit needs when the time arises." – Network Reporter
